5 Fandom Friday: Characters I’d Love To Dress Up As For Halloween

Happy 5 Fandom Friday. We have been working on this year’s Halloween family costumes a little. They’re pretty simple overall but very silly. I managed to snag a hand fan that I can hopefully turn into a…well, I don’t want to ruin the surprise.

Instead, let’s talk about some of the other characters I would like to be in the coming years! I wanted to include Princess Zelda again, but it felt a bit redundant since I was longing for one as part of my geeky clothing essentials last week. First up is….

1. “Casual” Kaylee from Firefly

I felt like a bit of a tomboy growing up. I preferred hanging out with the Boy Scouts in my mom’s troop and with guys at school recess. I rode motorcycles in the desert when my dad was out racing. I wasn’t really all that into things like fashion, makeup and so on. Kaylee captures a bit of that for me. She’s cute but practical in her mechanic overalls.

2. Kaylee in the “Shindig” Dress

….but she can also dress up from time to time, like I have. It does look like the layers of a cake as I have heard some mention before. This would take yards and yards and YARDS of fabric to make it up, but it would be worth it!

I read that she (Jewel Staite) loved this dress....until she had to use the restroom. Photo by Andrew Kalat via Flickr CC Attribution-NoDerivatives

3.Weeping Angel from Doctor Who

Blink is one of my favorite episodes from the show. This is the one where they first encounter the Weeping Angels and is delightfully creepy. You’ll never look at statues the same way ever again!

4. Rapunzel from Tangled

I do like how spunky she is in this movie and this is now one of my favorite Disney movies. The way the flowers are entwined in her hair as it was braided up is simply gorgeous. A bonus with this costume is that I could put Miss ZZ in her Rapunzel pinafore to match. Awwwwww.

5. Codex from The Guild

I have dressed up as Clara from the show before, but hope to pull off Codex someday. I want to find a way to modify it to be a bit more covering as possible (that’s more of my own comfort level) but stay true to the general design.

I love that this version seems to have pants instead of the skirt. It's a nice twist. Image by Pixelated_SK via Flickr CC Attribution-NoDerivatives License

Another great list! I’ve seen a few Weeping Angels floating around these lists. Better not blink!

I’m new to Doctor Who but I think the Weeping Angel would be amazing to try out one year. Imagine the reactions you would get from people! 😀

I just finished watching The Guild, again lol. I love that show and Codex would be a great character to dress up as! Even though when I play The Game, I am almost always a mage, like Clara. The Kaylee costumes are cool too. Shindig Kaylee almost looks like Princess Vanellope, or is that just me?

The Weeping Angel looks interesting. I’ve never seen it before but now I’m going to be looking out for it.

The Shindig dress has the same problem as a lot of wedding dresses – way more skirt than you can manage yourself for bathroom breaks!

I have the shindig dress on my list too! I love all of these, such wonderful characters! xx
